OUR LOVE STORY

HOW WE MET

We met the modern way - by swiping right on Tinder. We were both Melburninans living in London at the time and matched based on that, Elysse’s smile and Ashton’s beard. Our first date was a bit of a disaster, it started pouring rain while we were enjoying an outdoor dinner, Ellysse slipped in a mud puddle on the way out, and we had to wait over an hour for a subway train. However, our second date went much smoother and we’ve been together ever since.

A few of our favourite memories together are living abroad and traveling around Europe together, moving home to Melbourne and in together, attending many, many concerts and shows, testing nearly 50 chocolate-chip cookie recipes, and buying our first home together.

THE PROPOSAL

Ashton proposed at the restaurant where we had that first fateful date on our first trip back to London after 3 years. It sounds like a really obvious choice, but Ellysse had no idea it was happening. Elysse of course said yes and they enjoyed a rain-free dinner. The next day Ashton had organised a surprise celebration at one of our old favourite pubs with all our London friends. It was incredibly special and memorable.

SPECIAL PEOPLE

WEDDING PARTY

Get to know some of the very special people who will be by our sides on the day.

  • Best lady and Ellysse’s London housemate, she’s been there since the beginning of our relationship. Tara is a talented designer, a keen traveler, and loves a good margarita. At the wedding, you will find her tearing up the dance floor or taking Instagram photos for anyone who asks.

  • Elysse’s best friend since high school, they have grown up together and been there for all of each other’s big moments. Chantal shares Ellysse’s creative flair and love for the Geelong Football Club. She’s most likely to be your drunken best friend in the toilets at the end of the night.

  • Ellysse’s next door neighbour growing up, Dylan was more like a big sister to Ellysse growing up. Ever the responsible and organised one, Dylan has helped plan a lot of our wedding so you’ll most likely find her on the day fixing place settings and making sure everyone drinks water.

  • Best man and the groom’s older brother. Always fighting as kids but now thick-as-thieves, Lucas and Ashton run a business together, play footy together, and travel together. Lucas is a sommelier, so you’ll no doubt encounter him on the wedding day at the bar judging what you’re drinking.

  • Chris works in the business with Ashton and Lucas and keeps the customers coming back with his charm and wit. He’s Melbourne’s best barista, a perpetual bachelor and a one-eyed Tigers supporter. He’ll be the one requesting Horses and dancing terribly but enthusiastically.

  • Housemates from their London days, Ric and Ashton share the ultimate bromance so he’s a very comfortable third wheel in our relationship. Ric is studying to be a paediatrician and is travelling all the way from London to be a part of our big day, so please help us convince him to stay!
